3. Mount Kanchenjunga, Sikkim

Many climbers in India dream of climbing Mount Kangchenjunga, the third-highest peak in the world. But going here is now prohibited due to religious reasons. The Government of Sikkim banned expeditions to Kangchenjunga in 2001 under the provisions of the Places of Worship Act, of 1991. One of the highest lakes in the world, Cholamu Lake is still closed to tourists. It is also known as Tso Lhamo Lake. It is located a few kilometers from the Tibet border. Here only the army and Sikkim police or administration have been allowed to go to Cholamu lake.
